It’s May! You know what that means? It’s National Moving Month once again!
Why has May been declared National Moving Month? Well, the answers to that is that college students are done with their studies for the year and are looking to move back home, primary school kids are getting out for the summer so it’s easier to move without taking them out of their current routine, and that the weather is finally nice enough to provide you with an easy trip. This means that moving companies are going to start getting a ton of calls and their fleets are going to start
moving people long distances or
right down the road soon.
Due to these facts, if you are planning a move here in May, there are several things that you should think about. This includes:
- Be sure that you plan as far ahead as possible. This will allow you to easily accommodate for all of the possible road blocks that can pop up.
- Book your move with your moving company as far in advance as possible as well. This will help you ensure that you’ll get the help you need on the days you need it without having to pay a premium. Since this is the start of our busy season, it’s really important to reserve your moving truck and crew now!
- Try to avoid moving during the end of the month. This is a typical time that people like to try to plan their moves since their leases tend to go from the first of the month to the last. If you can get in a weekend earlier, there’s a much better chance of being able to secure a moving crew to help you with the heavy lifting.
- Plan for the weather. Just because April Showers are a thing of the past doesn’t mean rain can’t pop up suddenly to interrupt your move.
